I think Toyota is taking a big risk with the new Aygo.

That aggressive styling. Why would you do this? The Aygo's main market seems to be little old ladies and people who need a city runabout. But these new aggressive looks... could they turn away potential buyers? Potential buyers being the people who need a cheap car to drive, one that is safe, and easy to get into. But the people who want those things in a car don't want it to look like a angry spider-dog with fang headlights.

Because I get the idea that all old ladies shop like my mother. "Ooh it's so cute looking! I love it, lets buy it!" Good gas mileage as well.

You see, this is the Vibe I am getting from the new Aygo:

WHAT THE FUCK?! Maybe they are still trying to win over the young market, but dear god.Remember when they did that in 2005, with the one that just looked like a gasoline prius?

I love the agressive new face on this thing. I can only hope it gets attached to the Yaris as well. And if that came along with a new performance trim to fight the Fiesta ST, all the better.

I just think this one is a bit..... too aggressive. Yes, its great they are stepping of of their box, but holy shit. This one is weird Maybe it just looks weird because of the black highlights around the headlights.

Agreed. I'm really glad to see Toyota stepping out of its comfort zone and releasing something that's actually pushing the envelope, rather than putting an "Omg edgy"body kit on the same old bland design and acting like it's the future. Sure, it might cost them some old person sales, but those people are going to die soon anyways.

I would love love love to see Toyota doing some proper hot models, if only so I can stop getting violently angry whenever I see a goddamn Corolla S. YOU CAN'T JUST PUT A BODY KIT AND A DEVIL S ON YOUR CAR AND THEN LEAVE THE ENGINE EXACTLY THE SAME. BLASPHEMY.

Well, there's aggressive and there's aggressive. This is the wrong kind of aggressive, especially on this car. It doesn't fit the character of the car and doesn't fit the target demographic. Imho.

And herein lies the problem. The old people demographic is constantly dying. What Toyota doesn't realize is that people don't magically retire and say "I need a Toyota". These people grew up on older and better Toyotas, and brand loyalty kept them buying the newer shittier ones. As the current older generation goes, so will a lot of Toyota sales. If they don't get something exciting out there to start the next generation back onto the brand, they will go down a bad path and have to rebuild from nothing.

Honda too.
